    The square has a side of length 4*2 = 8 ins so its area = 8^2 = 64 in^2

    the area of the 4 circles = 4 * pi r^2 = 4 * pi * 2^2 = 16pi

    so remaining area = 64 - 16pi = 13.73 in^2 to nearest hundredth
