5 squares are placed end to end as below (see pic). What is the perimeter of the rectangle formed by the squares?

    Ok so here is what your five squares look like. The perimeter is the distance around the shape. Therefore, count the x's. You have a total of 12 x's. Therefore, your perimeter is 12x.
