A bird owner wants to purchase birdseed from the local pet store. Sunflower seeds sell for $8 per pound and regular bird seed sells for $6 per pound. How many pounds of each must the bird owner mix in order to make an 4 pound mixture that can be purchased for $7 per pound?

    If he buys 2 lbs of sunflower seed and 2 lbs of regular seed he will have 4 lbs of seed, for what he paid 16+12=28 dollars

    so 28/4=7 dollars per pound
