If the absolute value of a negative number is 2.78, what is the distance in the number line between the number and its absolute value?

    The distance a negative number from its absolute value is twice its value, because it has to travel that far to zero, and then again to its absolute value. So, in this case, it would be

    2.78x2 = 5.56
