If you start with a number, add 2/5, then multiply by 7, the result is 6 3/10. What was the original number?

    (x+2/5) 7=63/10

    then divide both sides by 7

    x+2/5=63/70

    subtract 2/5 from both sides

    and x = 1/2

    *x=original number
