    Charlie's solution is not correct. This is because when Charlie distributed 2 into (x-1), he got 2x+2. He should have gotten 2x-2 because 2 (-1) is equal to - 2. Also, on Charlie's third step, he should have added three to both sides to get 5, not 6. The correct solution would have been:

    4x-3=2 (x-1)

    4x-3=2x-2

    2x-3=-2

    2x=1

    x=1/2
