A classroom had 14 glue sticks. If the ratio of glue sticks to glue bottles was 3:1, how many glue bottles did the classroom have?

    The classroom had 7 glue bottles, it's a simple proportion.

    The set up would be

    3/1 x 4/x which gets you to 3x=14 then you solve and get x = 7
