    In a right triangle, use Pythagoras theorem

    hypotenuse ^2 = (short leg) ^2 + (long leg) ^2

    (short leg) ^2 = hypotenuse^2 - (long leg) ^2

    =41^2-40^2

    = 1681-1600

    = 81

    short leg = sqrt (81) '

    =9'
