    Y = (3-x) / 2

    1. First move the components without a Y to the other side of the equation:

    2x + 4y - 6 - 2x = 0 - 2x ⇒ 4y - 6 = - 2x

    4y - 6 + 6 = - 2x + 6 ⇒ 4y = - 2x + 6

    2. Divide both sides by 4 so that the y is by itself.

    4y / 4 = (-2x + 6) / 4 ⇒ y = (-2x + 6) / 4 or y = (6 - 2x) / 4

    3. Simplify the right side of the equation by dividing both the top and bottom by 2, which is the highest common factor of the numbers 2, 4, and 6.

    y = (3 - x) / 2
