Philip is making a poster that is 36 inches long and 24 inches wide. He cuts out a rectangle that is 5 inches long and 12 inches wide from the poster. How much of the poster remains?

    Remaining area of poster = Area of Big rectangle - Area of small rectangle

    = (36*24) - (5*12) =

    = 864 - 60 = 804 in^2
