The Information Processing Model proposes the following order for learning new information:

    1) Sensory Input: We receive stimuli through one of our five senses. This can be numbers, words, letters, sounds, or any other stimuli that we are capable of experiencing.

    2) Short-term memory: This is an interesting part of the process, where information is stored in a fragile, temporary state. In this stage, the brain must decide if it will pay attention and learn/process this information, or disregard and forget it. Short term memory has a limited capacity and acts as a filter for irrelevant stimuli. The brain often does this automatically.

    3) Rehearsal: The learner recognizes the information she wants to learn and begins practicing and rehearsing. Think of studying flashcards, or practicing your curve ball, or repeating the chords of a guitar song.

    4) Feedback Loop: This step involves recognizing, through rehearsal, the things you still must learn. Think of striking a wrong chord when playing a song, or coming across a word whose definition you can't remember. When these areas of weakness are identified, they are reinforced by repeating Step 2 and 3, and returning to the Feedback Loop.

    5) Long-term Memory - Long Term memory has a huge capacity and stores the information that made it through Step 1-4 and has been committed to remember in the long-term.

To summarize, the steps are sensory input, short term memory, rehearsal, feedback loop, and finally long-term memory.

    The answer is D. sensory input - short-term memory - rehearsal - feedback - long-term memory

These are the steps according to the information processing model that describes the way our brain learns.

Sensory input involves all our senses; sight, smell, touch, taste, hearing.

Data collected by our senses are stored in our memories. Constant exposure to these data will ensure that these memories will be long term.
