You use "Rise Over Run" to measure how steep a slope is or to discover whether a slope exists at all.

"Rise Over Run" can also be known as the "gradient", "slope" or "tangent".

    Rise / Run = (y₂-y₁) / (x₂-x₁) = Opposite / Adjacent

These values can be positive or negative as positive and negative slopes exist in mathematics.
