Use the discriminant to determine the nature of the roots of the following equation. x2 + 2x + 5 = 0

    X² + 2x + 5 = 0

    a = 1, b = 2, c = 5

    Discriminant = b² - 4ac = 2² - 4*1*5 = 4 - 20 = - 16

    Since the Disciminant, D < 0, the roots are imaginary
