An escalator ascends 45 feet over a horizontal distance of 30 feet. what is the angle of elevation?

    The angle of elevation will be given by:

    cos θ=adjacent / hypotenuse

    thus

    adjacent=30 ft

    hypotenuse=45 ft

    thus

    cos θ=30/45=2/3

    hence

    θ=arccos 2/3

    θ=49.2°
