Solve for the variable c in this equation:

a (b - c) = d

    a (b - c) = d

    ab - ac = d

    subtract ab to both sides

    -ac = d - ab

    divide both sides by (-a)

    c = (d-ab) / - a

    simplify

    c = - d/a + b
