An odd number is chosen randomly from a set of index cards labeled 1-8. A second odd number is chosen without the first index card being replaced. What is the probability of both events occurring?

    1 thru 8 ... there are 4 odd numbers (1,3,5,7) ...

    probability of picking an odd number on first pick is 4/8

    without replacement

    probability of picking an odd number on 2nd pick is 3/7

    probability of both events happening : 4/8 * 3/7 = 12/56 = 3/14
