The first four terms of a sequence is shown below.

9, 5, 1, - 3

which of the following functions best defines this sequence?

f (x) _2 = f (x) _1 - 4

    The answer of your question that to get the function that defines the sequence is f (x) _1=9, f (x) _2=f (x) _1-4. Its because the first equation is equal to 9 but when it is used by the second equation it would be fit to the sequence which is 9 5 1 - 3, the second equation is decremented by 4.
