    Basic parts of a simple electric motor are:

    - Rotor: the moving part which turns the shaft to deliver the mechanical power.

    - Stator: the stationary part of the motor. Usually consists of either windings or permanent magnets.

    - Windings: wires that ara laid in coils, usually wrapped around a magnetic core to form magnetic poles when energized with current.

    - Commutator: a mechanism used to switch the input of most DC machines and certain AC machines.
