you need to find the lowest common denominator (lcd) for each fraction.

you can already rule out 1/16 because no other fraction would be the same as 1/16 because the denominator is too big and cannot simplify to anything else.

you can also rule out 1/3 bc same thing no other number can be the same like trust me

so now the lcd is 8 bc 2 goes in 8, 4 goes in 8, and 8 goes in 8. convert all of the remaining fractions with a denominator of 8. so 3/4 turns into 6/8, 6/8 stays the same, 5/8 stays the same, 1/2 turns into 4/8. so there was a repeat of 6/8 so yes he is right.
