Find the vertex of the parabola whose equation is y = - 2x2 + 8x - 5.

    Hello:

    y = - 2x² + 8x - 5 = - 2 (x²-4x-5)

    but : x²-4x = (x²-4x + 2²) - 2²

    = (x-2) ² - 4

    y = - 2 ((x-2) ²-9)

    y = - 2 (x-2) ²+18

    the vertex is A (2,18)
