Maria spent $28.69 on one pair of jeans and two T-shirts. The jeans cost $16.49. each T-shirt cost the same amount. The sales tax is $1.62. How much did each T-shirt cost?

    28.69-16.49=12.20

    12.20-1.62=10.58

    10.58/2=5.29

    First we have to subtract 28.69-1.62 to get the cost without taxes.

    28.69-1.62=27.07$

    Now we have to subtract 27.07 - 16.49 to get the cash spent on the t-shirts.
