Suppose a card is drawn from a deck of 52 playing cards. what is the probability of drawing a 3 or a queen?

    In a deck of cards, there is a 3 in every suit ... that's four 3's.

    There are also a queen in every suit ... that's four queens as well.

    Therefore, there are 8 cards in the deck which are either 3 or queens.

    8/52 is base probability. Reduce by dividing out a 4 from both terms.

    P (drawing a 3 or queen) = 4/13
