    We can simplify across between the 5 and the 50 and also between the 42 and the 3.

    To find the area of the walk in Marcus's bedroom, we have to use the formula: A = b * h. However, to multiply these two values, we should first transform them into improper fractions.

    8 2/5 : 8 * 5 = 40 + 2 = 42/5

    16 2/3 : 16 * 3 = 48 + 2 = 50/3

    Now, we can begin to solve the problem.

    Area of Wall = base * height

    Area = (50/3) * (42/5)

    Now, we simply multiply the fractions.

    Area = 140 square feet

    However, this value represents the area of a whole wall of Marcus's room. To find the area of the 1/2 of the wall that he plans to paint blue, we must multiply this value by 1/2.

    140 * 0.5 = 70 square feet

    Therefore, Marcus is going to paint 70 square feet of the wall blue.
