Five red marbles, 3 green marbles, and 2 blue marbles are place in a jar. What is the probability of selecting a red marble and then another red marble, given the first marble is not returned to the jar after it is drawn?

    They are independent events, so the probality will be the productof the probabilities of each event.

    First draw:

    5 red marbles / 10 marbles in the jar = 1/2

    Second draw:

    4 red marbles / 9 marbles in the jar = 4/9

    Combined probability: 1/2 * 4/9 = 2/9 = 0.222
