A percent is a ratio whose second term is 100. Percent means parts per hundred. TO calculate we, divide a value that is part of the total to the total then multiply by 100%. We do as follows:

    percent increase = (2780 - 1250) / 2780 x (100) = 55.03%

Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day.
