Given the trinomial 3x2 - 6x + 5, what is the value of the discriminant?

    The discriminant can be found by using the values that are under the square root of the quadratic formula: b^2 - 4ac

    b = - 6

    a = 3

    c = 5

    -6^2 - (4) (3) (5) = 24
