The ground temperature at sea level is 60 degrees F. For every 100-foot increase in elevation, the temperature rises 1/10 of one degree. At an altitude of 2,000 feet, what will be the likely temperature?

    Well since 2000 ft is our final altitude, we are going to set our equation to 2000. We know at the ground floor there is sixty degrees.

    2000/100=20.

    Therefore there will be 20 x 1/10 degree increase.

    let's call x the final temperature. We need to add the ground floor temperature, and the 2000ft temperature together, to get the final temperature.

    Therefore x=60 + 20 (1/10) degree increase.

    x=60+2=62

    Thus our final answer is 62 degrees farenheit.
