    Y = 3x+5 (1)

    5x-4y = - 3 (2)

    5x-4 (-3x+5) = - 3 (3)

    5x+12x-20 = - 3

    17x = 17

    x = 1

    When x = 1,

    y = - 3 (1) + 5 = 2

    Check:

    5 (1) - 4 (2) = 5 - 8 = - 3

    x = 1, y = 2

    (1,2)
