-3q + 1.5 = - 5 - 1.7q

Add 3q to both sides like so: 1.5 = - 5-1.7q+3q
Add 5 to both sides like so: 5+1.5 = - 1.7q+3q
Combine like terms: 6.5=1.3q
Divide both sides by 1.3: q=5
