is it 11/8 or 1 and 1/8?
if it is 11/8 divide 11 by 8, 11/8 = 1.375
if it is 1 and 1/8 divide 1 by 8, 1/8 = 0.125 then add it to the 1
so 1 and 1/8 = 1.125
