The altitude of an equilateral triangle is 5 cm. what is the length of a side of the triangle?

    Let 2x be the length of a side.

    Consider half of the triangle, by pythagoras theorem, we have

    x^2 + 25 = 4x^2

    Then x=5/sqrt3

    Hence the length is 10/sqrt3 cm
