Absolute value is the opposite of negative numbers, but not positive. The opposite is basically the opposite, Ex: - it will be +

    EX:

    Absolute Value: 2.4 = 2.4, - 6.1 = 6.1

    Opposite: 2.4 = - 2.4, 6.1 = - 6.1

They are only equal when the opposite of the number is a positive. This is because absolute value is always positive (unless it's 0 which then it'll be neither).
