    A common denominator for the 2 fractions you already have and subtract them from one ten simplify your answer (3/12 + 4/12=7/12 1-7/12=5/12) and you cant simplify that so the answer is 5/12

    Max = 1/4

    Jasmine = 1/3

    1/4 + 1/3 =

    find common denominator (12) 1/4 = 3/12, 1/3 = 4/12

    3/12 + 4/12 = 7/12

    so Springer will eat 1 - 7/12 = 12/12 - 7/12 = 5/12
