    X/2 + y/3 = 6 ... multiply by common denominator (6) to get rid of fractions ...

    3x + 2y = 36

    3x + 2y = 36

    x - y = 2 ... x = y + 2

    3 (y + 2) + 2y = 36

    3y + 6 + 2y = 36

    3y + 2y = 36 - 6

    5y = 30

    y = 30/5

    y = 6

    x - y = 2

    x - 6 = 2

    x = 2 + 6

    x = 8

    solution is : (8,6)
