Jason wants to buy a sweater that costs $65.50 the sweater is 40% of what is the price of the sweater now? Be sure to explain.

    Since you are taking 40% off of the original price, you are left with 60% of the cost for what you will be paying

    because of this, you would multiply 65.50 by 60% (60% can also be written as 0.6)

    65.50*0.6 = 39.30

    the sweater now costs $39.30
