1/2-1/8=3/8, so 3/8 of his money equaled to $120. Now divide 120 by 3 to find 1/8 of the money, which is $40, to give you 1/8 of his total money. Now multiply 40 (1/8 of the money) by 8 to give you the full amount, which is $320
