Deal with the absolute value sign first. The AV of - 5 is 5. So we have 6 - 2 (-1) * 5. Now deal with the multiplication of 2 * - 1 to get 6 - (-2) * 5, which simplifies to 6 + 2 * 5. Now multiply 2 * 5 to get 10 and then add 6 to get 16
