    (y + 10x) / (8 + y^2 - 5)

    (4 + 10 (2)) / (8 + 4^2 - 5)

    Simplify the top.

    Multiply:

    (4 + 20) / (8 + 4^2 - 5)

    Add:

    24 / (8 + 4^2 - 5)

    Simplify the exponent:

    24 / (8 + 16 - 5)

    Add:

    24 / (24 - 5)

    Subtract:

    24/19

    Convert to whole number:

    1 5/19
