    X + y = - 6

    x + (3x - 2) = - 6

    4x - 2 = - 6

    4x = - 4

    x = - 1

    y = 3x - 2

    y = 3 (-1) - 2

    y = - 3 - 2

    y = - 5

    Solution: x = - 1, y = - 5
