There are 101 students going on a field trip to pan for gold. If they are going in vans that hold 9 students each, how many vans are needed? How many students will ride in the van that isn't full? vans are needed. student (s) will ride in the van that isn't full.

    Quite simple, actually. Just take 101 students and since 1 bus holds 9 each; divide. There should be 11 buses, with 1 extra. 11*9=99, but since there are 101 kids you are left with 2 kids. Thus, you would need 12 buses.
