    3 (x + y) ² = 8

    3 (x + y) (x + y) = 8

    3 (x² + xy + xy + y²) = 8

    3 (x² + 2xy + y²) = 8

    3 (x²) + 3 (2xy) + 3 (y²) = 8

    3x² + 6xy + 3y² = 8
