A cylinder is full at 471 cm³ and has a radius of 5 cm. It currently contains 314 cm³ of water.

What is the difference between the height of the water in the full cylinder and the height when 314 cm³ of water remains in the cylinder?"

Use 3.14 to approximate pi.

    Step 2. Calculate the height of cylinder that contains 314 cm³ of water (h2 = ?)

    Step 3. Find the difference between the height of the water in the full cylinder and the height when 314 cm³ of water (h1 - h2 = ?)

    The volume (V) of the cylinder with radius r and height h is:

    V = π * r² * h

    So, h = V / (π * r²)

    Step 1.

    h1 = ?

    V1 = 471 cm³

    r = 5 cm

    π = 3.14

    h1 = V1 / (π * r²)

    h1 = 471 / (3.14 * 5²)

    h1 = 471 / (3.14 * 25)

    h1 = 471 / 78.5
