    k = 2b

    k - 2 = 8

    k - 2 = 8

    Add 2 to both sides:

    k = 10

    Plug in 10 for 'k' in the first equation:

    10 = 2b

    Divide 2 to both sides:

    b = 5

    So his brother is 5 years old now.

    So first you add 8 and 2 to get 10. This means that Kevin is 10 years old now. If he is currently twice as old as his brother it means that you divide 10 by 2 to get 5. Kevin's brother is 5 years old.

    Answer: 5 years old
