    Y = - 12

    - distribute the 10 into (2y+2)

    - distribute 2 into (8y-8)

    You will have 20y + 20 - y = 16y - 16

    - bring the 20 to the other side to get

    20y - y = 16y - 36

    - subtract y from 2y to get 19y = 16y - 36

    - bring 16y to the other side to get 3y = - 36

    - divide 3 from both sides to single out y.

    Your final answer is y = - 12

    10 (2y+2) - y=2 (8y-8)

    20y + 20 - y = 16y - 16

    19y - 16y = - 16 - 20

    3y = - 36

    y = - 36/3

    y = - 12
