    The formula for the cost of renting a car for a day for two companies will be as follows:

    The cost of renting a car follows a linear model given by:

    f (x) = mx+c

    where:

    where f (x) = total cost

    x=independent variable which is number of miles

    m=slope=cost of renting per mile

    c=constant daily payments

    thus;

    formula for:

    company a will be:

    C (m) = 0.12m+45

    C (m) is total cost, m is number of miles

    company b:

    c (m) = 0.05m+60

    where:

    c (m) is the total cost, m is the number of miles in a day.
