Heavy snows and rains caused the river near Harvey's house to flood. When the river crested, it was 5 feet above its normal level. The water started to recede at a rate of 2 inches per day. How many feet did the river recede after 14 days?

    After 14 days the river is at 2 feet and 8 inches.

    2 x 14 = 28, 5 feet = 60 inches, 60 - 28 = 32 inches, 32 inches = 2 feet and 8 inches.
