Is 2/3 (x-4) = 1/3 (2x-6) a identity

    It is a property. Distributive property but they only multiplied in 2 instead of the whole fraction of (2/3). That is why the (x-4) changed to (2x-6) and the fraction is no longer 2/3 but 1/3.
