The length of a rectangle is three times the width. An equation that models the perimeter of the rectangle is 3w+2w=40, where w is the width of the rectangle in feet. What are the length and width of the rectangle?

    5w=40 divide 5 into both sides. It cancels out the 5 on 5w and 40 divided by 5 = 8 so the width is 8 and then you can just substitute 8 into the equation to find the length. So 3 (8) = 24. The length = 24. Width = 8 and Length = 24
