    Standard form is

    ax+by=c

get all x and y on one side

    first distribute

    -1 (x-y) = - x+y

    now weh have

    8-x+y=-3x+5

    add 3x to both sides

    8+2x+y=5

    minus 8 from both sides

    2x+y=-3
