How can I solve this problem 5y-2y=3y+2

    As you go through this you will find it can't be solve.

    First you have to combine like terms which will give you 3y=3y+2, then you would subtract 3y from both sides and get 0=2. Since 0 does not equal 2, you know it does not have an answer.
